Polio Eradication
(ongoing)
Overview: Rotary International, as the founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. We have helped to reduced polio cases by more than 99.9 percent. It is crucial to eradicate polio from the last two endemic countries (Pakistan and Afghanistan) and to keep other countries polio-free.
If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year. Since 1988, our club has contributed over $19,000 to the World Polio Eradication Initiative.
